Dry mounted prints are bonded onto board at high temperature in a vacuum press to ensure permanent adhesion, extra rigidity and support.
The largest ~A0 prints are slightly smaller at ~ 122cm x 81cm (47" x 32") due to vacuum hot press limitations.
The sides of the board may be coloured in a single colour ink when unframed, on panel hanging plates or a panel tray frame. Contact us if this is required.
Unlaminated prints require surface protection via framing behind a mount and glass, or varnishing.
- 3mm MDF is most suited to a traditional frame or a wooden panel tray frame for smaller sizes up to say A2.
- 6mm MDF is most suited to a traditional frame or a wooden panel tray frame of larger sizes.
- 12mm MDF is also available. Contact us for details.
- 3mm ACP is most suited to hanging unframed, with panel hanging plates, a rear sub-frame or an aluminium panel tray frame.
- The film lamination is applied at high temperature in a vacuum press.
- Laminated prints on ACP may be hung unframed with either panel hanging plates or a rear sub-frame, for a minimalist, modern appearance. Contact us if this is required.
- Laminated prints on MDF may be framed in a traditional standard frame without a mount or glass, or a wooden or aluminium contemporary panel tray frame, for a more sophisticated appearance.
- The surface is waterproof hence glazing is not required and the surface may be dusted and wiped clean as admirers will definitely touch the surface!
- A satin finish is standard though a gloss or matt finish is also available. Contact us if this is required.
Unmounted prints are suitable for hinge mounting behind a mount (matt) with a nominal 3mm overlap and framing behind glass.
Paper prints are suitable for adding metal leaf. However, we recommend canvas as it works best, especially when sealed to prevent tarnishing and oxidisation.
The higher the image resolution you provide us with, the better.
Industry standard publishing quality is 300dpi, which is ideal, though we recommend a minimum of 72dpi.
We upscale all images to 300dpi before printing to preserve the existing image definition, but we cannot create new definition that is not in the original image we receive.
We print all images exactly as received and match each print as closely as possible to the image as displayed on our computer screen.
We are able to provide A4 proofs on paper upon request and this is recommended if colour, tone and contrast are particularly critical.
We are able to edit images to crop, extend into a bleed or border, remove blemishes and make colour / brightness / contrast changes upon request and at a nominal charge.
Contact us to discuss any editing required.
For sizes from A4 to A2, standard cut sheet media is used and we will print with a small border of a few mm minimum. There may be a slightly larger border on two opposite sides where the image is not the exact same aspect ratio as the media.
If the image is to be cropped to fit the media, or if a specific border is required all around the image, contact us to let us know.
For sizes above A2, roll feed media is used and there may be an additional white border around the image which may be trimmed if required.
If you would like to discuss framing, glazing, mounting and lamination options, contact us to discuss.
All prints should either be framed behind glass, varnished or laminated for resilience.
Prints should not contact the glass or they will deteriorate over time. Always use a mount to separate the paper from the glass.
Handle prints carefully to avoid creasing or scuffing. Do not roll tightly. Do not touch or rub the surface. Do not expose to moisture.
Contact us at info@ryoung-art.com to discuss any aspect of the above pertaining to your order.
