Tamsin Gifford is a contemporary abstract artist and ceramicist based in Portugal, originally from the southwest of the UK, who graduated from Bath Spa University in 2007, specializing in 3D design and ceramics. Her creative practice, primarily in clay, also spans painting and printmaking, as she believes that insights in art are enriched by cross-disciplinary approaches. Tamsin’s work reflects cycles of her mental disposition: confident and bold when hand-building and painting during periods of high inspiration, while her slip casting and printmaking adopt a more structured, meditative quality during lower energy phases. Inspired by nature, architecture, history, and travel, her work blends organic forms with formal techniques, marked by a signature simplicity—a single brushstroke or a touch of gold luster. Sustainability, slow living, and conscious consumption are central to her practice.
